How Blueberry Found His Brother
Mango was 22 months old when Blueberry went to live with him. Two months later, their owner discovered they were brothers!
Here’s teardropface’s story about what happened.
“It just happens that the song [in the video below] starts out a little mellow which fits this story because Blueberry’s previous owner gave him up after 18 months for a puppy who was constantly barking at him. Blueberry is a very sweet, tamed, obedient loving parakeet. Absolutely nothing wrong physically or mentally but the owner chose a new puppy over him even though Blueberry was with them for 18 months.
“I took a chance to buy another parakeet not knowing if they will get along or will all my hard efforts with my Mango like training for tricks, talking and obedience, will be all lost due to a new bird.
“It turned out that not only Mango didn’t forget anything that I’ve taught him, Mango is still very close to me, Mango is Blueberry’s mentor about the rules and boundaries in our household! Mango even helped in teaching Blueberry how to talk!!!
“I had the good fortune of buying Blueberry from the specialty bird shop and now my Mango got his brother back and a lifetime companion. They adore each other and I wanted to share that joy with others.
“Supposedly parakeets love leafy greens but I find that mine only like spinach and Blueberry will take some celery leaves. Just try whatever veggies that you eat and offer it to them. Organic is best if you can. They ultimately decide what they like to eat.
“If they are tamed, you can encourage them to eat from your hand or show them that you are eating it so they will know it’s food and not a toy. Also, you can sprinkle their favorite seed on top to spark their interest. Many parakeets love millet seeds but you put what your birds love to eat on the veggies.”
